Supplies for Success 2009

FCAO is excited about this year’s project to collect school supplies for Oklahoma’s children in foster and adoptive care.  Please plan to help us as we gather supplies and distribute them to the children.  We need your help to gather the following:

  • Backpacks
  • Book Bags
  • Pencils (#2)
  • Pens
  • Crayons
  • Dry Erase Markers
  • Pencil Cases
  • Rulers
  • Lined Paper (both wide and thin lined)
  • Notebooks (single and multi subject)
  • Colored Pencils
  • Scissors
  • Markers
  • Glue
  • Glue Sticks
  • Facial Tissue
  • Erasers

Walk A Mile!  Help A Child

Walk-A-Thon At The Zoo Saturday, May 23, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (registration @ 9:00 a.m.)

  • Walk begins at 10:00 a.m.  Join the walk by following the 1 mile or the 1/2 mile route through the zoo.  Live music, food vendors, entertainment OKC Zoo 2101 NE 50th Street, OKC (old zoo entrance)
  • Registration fee: $10.00

 

 

 


 

 

Family Ties Resource Support Groups
Three locations:
 
OKC - Meeting held at the Metro Technology Child Care & Training Center - 3901 N. Martin Luther King Avenue - Contact Person Keith Hickerson (405) 424-0225  Meetings are held the last Monday of each month 6:00-8:00 p.m.. (no meetings during the month of July)
 
Lawton - Meeting held at the Davenport Family Life Center, 1504 S.W. N. H. Jones Street, Lawton, Oklahoma - Contact person - Charles Ellington (580) 248-3228. Meetings are held the 4th Monday of each month 6:00-8:00 p.m. (no meetings during the month of July)
 
Tulsa - Meeting held at the Antioch Baptist Church 110 W. 56th Street North, Tulsa, Oklahoma- Contact person - Barbara Crawford (918) 794-7536. Meetings are held the last Monday of each month. (no meetings during the month of July)
 
Food and child care provided at each location.

  • Distribute the “Top 10 Things You Can Do For A Foster Child”
  • Display Change a Child’s Forever campaign poster (letter size)
  • Place an announcement in your newsletter
  • Insert Change a Child’s Forever flyers in your bulletins
  • Make an announcement about foster care ministry opportunities
  • Partner with Foster Care Association of Oklahoma supplies for foster children
  • Publically honor/thank a foster family in your congregation
